Dance Divination is the practice of receiving and interpreting supernatural messages, information, or insight while observing or engaging in divinely inspired dance. I have been developing this practice for more than two decades. It has served as a powerful tool for spiritual growth and personal/collective healing.

Divination itself is defined as the discovery of hidden knowledge by supernatural means. It’s something that has been practiced within many different cultures and religious communities throughout time utilizing a wide variety of tools and methods.

Dance is a powerful form of communication that surpasses language barriers. So often I find that words limit the scope of what spirit wants to convey. A body in motion can communicate so much more and in much less time.

Dance Divination is similar to an oracle card practice in which you ask a question or set an intention and then pull a card. You then study the image on that card, looking for clues or symbols on it to try and understand what Spirit is saying through the art depicted on it.

The only difference between an oracle card practice and Dance Divination is that the art you are observing and divining is IN MOTION. The body serves as your point of reference.

Most oracle decks come with a guidebook to give you the artist’s channeled insight on a particular card. When I teach Dance Divination, I help students create their own guidebook for this process. I also provide several worksheets and correspondence tables that I’ve created over the years to provide a starting point.

Here are some of the many benefits this practice can offer:

  • Deepen your connection to spirit and bolster your faith in the Universe
  • Activate and strengthen your intuitive gifts
  • Gain a basic understanding of the language of dance
  • Learn to discern various energetic signatures found in movement
  • Discover how movement can activate your psychic senses
  • Deepen your faith and connection with the world of spirit
  • Develop an embodied spiritual practice

It’s important to note that anyone can do this practice. You don’t need any dance experience - you don’t even need to move your body. It’s all about OBSERVATION and INTERPRETATION. Of course, you can always channel and divine movement for yourself if you want to.

In my own personal spiritual practice, I channel movement from the world of spirit and divine what it means simultaneously. Because I’ve been doing both for so long, it just happens naturally without much thought. Do remember that it’s called a practice for a reason. The more you do it, the easier it becomes.
